An Ophthalmic Technician is a qualified Allied Healthcare Professional, responsible for fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses. The Ophthalmic technician follows prescriptiond written by optometrists or ophthalmologists. Ophthalmic Tech. work mostly in medical offices and optical stores. 

The Main duties of a Ophthalmic Technician  include interpreting prescriptions written by Ophtalmologists, determining lens specifications, making recommendations to the customer on frames,lenses and coatings, advising the customer on the best option for them. 

The Average Job growth is expected for Ophthalmic Tech.. Job prospects are expected to be good as the demand for corrective lenses increases.
